Moore County covers almost 700 square miles of land area in south-central North Carolina in the region known as the "Sandhills" and is halfway between the mountains and the coast, just an hour's drive from the Research Triangle Park and Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Comprised of 11 different towns and villages, residents hail from many different points in the U.S. and the world.

The most current 2021 population estimates (NC Office of State Budget and Management) indicate Moore County has 104,130 residents, and projections are that by the year 2050, the county's population will be over 155,000.  

Healthcare, Leisure & Hospitality, and Retail are the 3 largest industry sectors, currently employing almost 56% of our total workforce.

Moore County is the Home of American Golf, boasting almost 40 premier golf courses, including the world-famous Pinehurst Resort and its nine outstanding courses for all skill levels. The county is also home to many equestrian attractions, including the Pinehurst Harness Track, McLendon Hills Equestrian Center, and the 4,000 acres Walthour-Moss Foundation land preserve. 

The local healthcare industry employs close to 27% of Moore County's workforce. Many of these high-quality jobs are with top-notch organizations such as First Health Moore Regional Hospital, St. Joseph of the Pines, and Pinehurst Surgical. 

Moore County Schools offers a comprehensive curriculum for grades pre-K-12 that includes workforce development, programs for special needs and gifted students, and arts education. All three high schools offer a variety of Advanced Placement courses and other academically challenging opportunities for all students.
